How to Get the Best Deal on Airline Tickets

How to Get the Best Deal on Airline Tickets

Airline tickets are items which are increasing in price these days.  Perhaps it is due to the fuel increase which is currently being seen throughout the world or other associated reasons. Whatever the reasons, finding a good price on an airline ticket is difficult for many individuals, especially if you happen to be flying to or from remote locations throughout the world.  The good news is that there are ways to still find great deals on transportation tickets of this kind and be well on your way to a great vacation or prosperous business trip without traveling broke.

One of the best ways to find a good deal on tickets for airlines is to review the selections and purchase these items online.  You can go to the individual airline websites, use travel websites or buy them from others who may be selling their transferable airline ticket.  If you are hoping to go on vacation and don’t have a set destination in mind, simply peruse your airline destination options and buy those tickets which are least expensive.  The Internet provides wonderful avenues for not only searching for desired airline tickets but purchasing them at discounted prices as well.

Another way to get a great deal on an airline ticket is to take advantage of sale fares offered by the airlines themselves.  Many airlines will advertise special destination prices for specific time periods.  These specials can reap wonderful prices on tickets for your air travel.  You may find it advantageous to sign up for web deals via email through one or more airline carrier as this will allow you to get information on special deals delivered directly to your email address.  If you want to go on vacation but don’t know where to go, these deals offered by the airlines may help you to decide which location to visit.

An additional way to get good airfare prices is to use your airline miles whenever possible.  If you are planning a trip ahead of time search for the best credit card that will offer you the best way to quickly gain these miles. For those who travel quite a bit, using airline travel miles will help to lower the cost of your tickets if not get you a completely free airline ticket.  You may also be able to use extra airline miles for food, drinks and access to VIP lounges in various airports in addition to getting a discounted airline ticket or free upgrade from coach to first class.

Lastly, airline deals can be had by purchasing more than one airline ticket.  Sometimes airlines will offer companion fares where you purchase one ticket at full advertised price and then get a second one for free or half the price.  Either way you are saving money if more than one individual is traveling at the same time.  Again, this information can be gained by visiting the airline’s website or calling the airline directly to see what type of deals is being offered on airline tickets.

dude, do you really want the cheapest ticket for a 17 hour flight (thats non stop) ? the cheapest tickets are only going to save you a couple hundred and more then likely stick you with at least one layover of 8 hours, maybe even two layovers. do you really want to take 30 hours to get to Thailand?

Thai Airlines flies non stop from NY to Bangkok for about a grand, maybe a bit more. Cathay Pacific is flat out the best airline in the world, and it will get you to Bangkok from NY with a short stop in Hong Kong for about the same price. also, if youre a first time flier im sure youre a bit concerned … Cathay Pacific has never lost a plane due to plane malfunction or pilot error in its entire history. one was shot down in the 50's by a Chinese rebel army and another went down in 72 when a bomb went off on board. other then those two flights, every single Cathay Pacific flight that has taken off …. has landed.

why are you going to Thailand during the hot season ???? get ready to have heat redefined.

I don't think that there is just one "best" site.
I usually, and this may sound tedious, but I check all sites and compare prices. I will check all of the airlines websites, kayak, yahoo, orbitz, travelocity, expedia, sidestep, cheapair. I will compare the prices of them all to which one is the best.

to bad insane gas prices are making cheap tickets hard to find, 2 years ago i could buy a round trip ticket from Dallas to Seoul Korea or Tokyo for 800ish bucks, now its doubled in that time :(

It depends on where you want to go. You can go to http://www.airfarewatchdog.com to see what specials there are from the city you live in. But there is no one website where you can get the best deal. Sometimes the airline websites have specials the travel websites do not have.

I would suggest you call the air lines or go on their websites to price airfares. It's easier and you cut out the middle man and get all the info you need as far as making changes to your ticket, canceling your reservation, etc.

I am an air line employee and we get calls everyday from passengers wanting to change their reservations. Most of the calls we get come from passengers who book their reservations from online booking agencies such as Travelocity, Expedia, CheapTickets, Priceline, etc.

Alot of people don't know that some of these agencies sell tickets called "bulk tickets." These ticket itineraries cannot be changed and cannot be refund no matter what. Many times this information is not provided when the purchase is made online or is overlooked. Tickets that can be changed are often booked on multi-airlines and it's kinda hard to figure out, if you need to change your reservation, which air line you need to call and make your changes.

It's your choice to book with whoever is cheaper but please make sure you read everything in your contract, even the fine print. Many people lose alot of money by ignoring this info.

If you need anymore assistance, email me.
    Good luck!

I'm flying from Boise, ID to Shanghai and staying for two months starting at the end of May. I got my tickets for about $850, a fairly good price. Since I don't live in a big city like Los Angeles, Chicago, or San Francisco, the tickets were a little bit more. But if you do live in LA or SF, they are like less than $600 roundtrip. Don't buy travel packages because they have set departure and arrival dates, plus they don't add in the fare from your city to a port city or allow for flexiblity. June, July, and August are expensive times to travel. Prices change about $100 from May to June. That's the time most people travel. I would travel around November. Not only are fares lower but the weather is nice…it's not so hot.

There is a great website called flychina.com that offers great prices. This website has great deals and is relatively inexpensive compared to Yahoo or Expedia.

When you are ready to book, you'll send them an request via their website with all the dates. Usually it's the same day that they will notify you by email if their are seats available. If you decide to purchase the ticket, you'll fax a form that you can print off the internet with all your information on it. Then after a couple of days, they mail you either a e-ticket invoice or paper tickets. There may be more steps than some travel websites, it's worth it to get airplane tickets that cheap.
