Whenever you are looking to save money on airfares to Africa you need to have an open mind. Sometimes the bargains are not where you expect to find them. Here’s what I suggest.
Cheap Tickets To Africa Can Be Found If You Fly Through Another Destination
Whether you want to fly to Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Gambia, Nigeria, Johannesburg or Nairobi, you will have to decide whether you want to have the convenience of flying non stop or direct or flying through another destination.
In general, if you fly through another destination, you are going to save money. If for example you want to fly from London to Johannesburg or Cape Town, you could fly non stop. Or you could check out the airfares of airlines like Emirates that have you fly through Dubai. You may well realize a lot of savings for the inconvenience.
Don’t Dismiss Airlines Simply Because You’ve Never Heard of Them – Look At ALL the Airlines that Fly to Your African Destination
Another point to know is that all airlines are not considered to be equal. What do I mean? Well if you want to fly on British Airways from London to Nairobi you will pay more than if you are willing to fly on Kenyan Airways on the same route. Another illustration? If you are willing to fly through Ethiopia (to get from New York to your African destination) on Ethiopian Airlines then you can save a lot on many destinations in Africa.
Use An Airfare Search Engine Robot That Includes Consolidator Fares
One of the best ways to find and book low airfares to Africa is to use an airfare search engine or robot. It can search millions of airfares in seconds and give you the best deals on flights to Africa.

Help answer the question about cheap tickets
Where can I purchase those really cheap tickets that travel agents seem to find so easily? Are they availableI am trying to get cheap tickets for a group of Japanese tourists who would be visiting Austin Texas next spring and that would really help out if I could get dirt cheap tickets.

I desagree, Expedia is an absolute RIP OFF!
I like to use cheaptickets.com. They have very reasonably priced tickets.
Very helpful. Thank You
I check out the travel websites and then pick the airline that offers the lowest fare and book my ticket on the airline's web page. Sometimes airlines run specials that the travel websites do not have. Airlines want you to book with them because every time you buy a ticket on the travel web page, the airline has to pay the travel website a commission.
lol lukeisback likes taking red eyes
No cheap tickets anymore. The airlines are bleeding green…….take your comfortable with…….
This will most likely not work. In the 1990's, many airlines offered standby tickets for certain kind of travelers (e.g., students, seniors) that were highly discounted. However, almost without exception if you show up at the airport you will be required to by an unrestricted ticket (often known as "Y" class or full fare) which will be more than buying in advance.
If you have some flexibility, consider sites like these for last minute airfares (both focused on US/Canada departures):

A suggestion would to check out bookingbuddy.com which will allow you to look up information on various sites without having to retype everything. My best suggestion, however, would be find internet coupon codes and deals directly with the airline. I have saved hundreds this way. Here's one example, I booked a trip to Orlando but found out that I could fly into Tampa (1hr away) and rent a car and still save $300 instead of flying directly into Orlando (MCO). Try nearby airports, especially if you're renting a vehicle.
to bad insane gas prices are making cheap tickets hard to find, 2 years ago i could buy a round trip ticket from Dallas to Seoul Korea or Tokyo for 800ish bucks, now its doubled in that time
Ebay, or Stubhub.
The important thing to do is shop around. First check ticketmaster, but most of the time, the Maple Leafs sell out.
If ticketmaster doesn't have tickets, check craigslist, ebay and some of the secondary ticket market websites (I'll list them below).
I live in Boston and have had a lot of luck waiting until they day of the game and getting tickets for below face off of craigslist.
Good luck!
You can often find tickets on craigs list for face value. The other thing to do is call the Red Sox ticket office every day at 10AM. Tickets become available in the days just before a series starts, you can often get tickets that way. You can almost always get tickets (except for Yankees) at the ticket window by Gate E on game day. The sooner you get in line before first pitch the better your odds.
The deal with day of game tickets is that you will get no choice regarding what seat you get. The tickets they are selling are either obstructed view seats that they couldn't sell or they are way the bleep out in sections 1,2,3, 4, 5 up under the right field deck. Or the tickets they are selling are ones that the visiting team didn't use. Each visiting team is allocated a number of tickets for their use (remember the Manny scandal in Houston last year?). If those tickets free up, they sell them at Gate E at roughly time of first pitch. Just be aware that face value on a ticket in the loge seats can cost $200 and up depending on location. Monster seats are ~$150ish each. The obstructed view seats are still $30ish/each.
Yea, I've bought tickets from Ace and other ticket brokers before. I'd only do that when I want a sure thing. Plan on paying 3x face value for tickets in the center field bleachers.
